Cornflower, also known as the bachelor’s button or bluebottle is native from oriental part of the Mediterranean basin and is today encountered all over Europe.
With its star-like blossoms of brilliant blue, it is one of most striking wild flowers.
Since the Middle Ages, cornflower has a long history of herbal use as anti-inflammatory, anti-itching, antiseptic, astringent and for ophthalmic remedies.
Included in the French Pharmacopeia, cornflower is considered to have tonic and stimulant properties.
